Samuel Bastos awarded in FinlandSamuel Bastos was awarded with the 2rd Prize in the Crussel Oboe International Competition. The competition held from 27th July to 1th August in Uusikaupunki, Finland. Philibert Perrine has won the first prize (6000 euros) of the Crusell International Oboe Competition. Samuel Bastos won the second prize of 3000 euros. The third prize (2000 euros) was shared between Ivan Kobylskiy and Friederike Hulman. The Finnish Double Reed Society award for the best Finnish competitor has been chosen by the jury and was awarded to Saku Mattila. The chairman of the jury was clarinetist Harri Mäki (Principal Clarinet of Tapiola Sinfonietta and the Artistic director of the Crusell Music Festival). The other members of the jury were Celia Nicklin (Professor at the Royal Academy of Music in London), Alexei Ogrintchouk (Principal of the Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw Orchestra and Professor at the Haute École de Musique de Genève), Jacques Tys (Principal-soloist of the Orchestra de l´Opéra de Paris and Professor at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris) and Christian Wetzel (Professor at the Musikhochschule Köln).
